The 1991 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Round 3 was a Touring Car meeting that was held on 27 May 1991 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, England. The race was contested over 1 10 lap sprint race and 1 20 lap feature race and was the third round of the 1991 British Touring Car Championship.
Background[]
Heading into the meeting, Vik Rune was leading the Overall and Manufacturer Drivers' Championship by thirty-three points from Josh Jones. Rune's team, Kaliber ICS Team Toyota was leading the Manufacturer's Team Championship by forty points from Nissan Janspeed Racing. In the Independent Driver's Championship, Mike Bell lead Kris Simton by four points. However it was Simton's Auto Trade Techspeed Team which lead the Independent Team's Championship over ACE Motorsport by twenty-six points.
Entrants[]
Thirteen drivers representing eight teams entered the race. Auto Trader Techspeed Team, Nissan Janspeed Racing, Kaliber ICS Team Toyota ,Vauxhall Sport and for the first time BMW Team Labatts each entered two cars and ACE Motorsport and BMW Team Listerine both entered single cars. The BMW works team also appeared in the championship for the first time racing a single entry.
