Heading into the race weekend, Lorenzo Turri led the Overall drivers' and Manufacturer Drivers' championships by 21 points over Roy Cop. However Cop's team, Team Securicor ICS Toyota, held a 2-point lead over Vauxhall Sport in the Manufacturers Team Championship. The Independent Drivers championship was lead by Mike Bell. Bell's team, Park Lane Racing, lead the Independent Teams championship.
