Prodrive was awarded the works contract to build the BMW M3 for the British Touring Car Championship Championship starting in 1991.
1991[]
In 1991, the works BMW team contract was awarded to Prodrive. The signed Johannes Meles from Germany to race selected races throughout their first year in the series. They participated at 7 meetings throughout the season, finishing on the podium 5 times including a win at Castle Combe.
